THURSDAY, MARCH 26th
PHONICS: Add your words from Day 4 to the chart you've been working on. Today is a good day for practicing using your words in sentences! Also, on the blog there is a crossword puzzle under PHONICS WEEK 2. We've been practicing sentence dictation in class so parents or siblings can also make up a sentence and students practice writing the sentence they hear. Don't forget to study your spelling word list (found under PHONICS WEEK 2). Practice spelling test tomorrow!
READING: This week you have read THREE different diaries of different bugs. I hope you enjoyed them as much as I do. On Epic, there is one more book called "Diary of a Worm: Teacher's Pet." Check your email for an Epic invite. It's free from home right now.
The Epic class code is: pnk0748
Do your episode of Headsprout and continue to Level Up on Raz Kids. There are also assignments in Freckle.
WRITING: Yesterday, you listened to "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day." This was an example of Realistic Fiction. Today's read aloud for writing is: Thank You, Mr. Falker. You can find it here: https://www.storylineonline.net/books/thank-you-mr-falker/
This author, Patricia Polacco, has many books that are great examples of realistic fiction. She uses her childhood memories to create stories that could have happened, but she's added more details to make the stories even more interesting.
Choose a topic from the Narrative Writing choice board under the "Narrative Writing" tab and practice writing your own story.
Don't forget to take a brain break!
MATH: Check Freckle and Zearn for Geometry. In your student math book, the Geometry unit begins in Chapter 12. A good resource to go along with the Geometry unit is https://www.mathlearningcenter.org/resources/apps (Access through Clever and use the "Geoboard" and "Pattern Shapes" apps.
Students can practice making triangle on the Geoboard app. Follow the link above from www.mathlearningcenter.org
I have also added a Geometry folder to the students' mailbox on Epic. Please let me know if you still need help accessing Epic.
I WILL POST A LEARNZILLION GEOMETRY VIDEO IN A SEPARATE POST.
WORD PROBLEMS: Students can also practice the word problems posted on my webpage under MATH WEEK 1 and MATH WEEK 2. There are a variety of word problem formats, many with missing addends.
SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES:
There are also books on Epic in their mailboxes in a folder titled "Life Cycles."
In addition, if you access Cobb Digital Library, click on databases on the left, scroll down until you see a source called "Pebble Go-Animals." There are some great articles about all kinds of animals. This is interactive for students and includes a short, cute video of each animal.
S.S. --If students have completed their lessons on MLK, our next historical figure is Juliette Gordon Low. Students can begin on Week 28.
SCIENCE: Students should continue working on Unit 3 starting at page 107 at their own pace
